Vehicle Description:
Calling all Green Hornet fans, here is your chance for your very own Black Beauty. This is a great looking and driving Imperial Crown. It has an estimated 10,000 miles on the rebuilt 440 V8 engine and torqueflite transmission. It has been completely rebuilt and was repainted and upholstered. The black paint looks great with only a few defects (see photos). The hood, trunk and doors open and close very solid. It appears to have its original quarter panels and trunk pan, so I would assume all other sheet metal as well. We have not bothered to check to see if it is the original engine, but were told to expect it was replaced when rebuilt. It is a big block mopar 440. The engine, transmission and rear end were completely rebuilt. The The engine does have a performance cam and some other light performance work and the rear end was completely rebuilt with a 741 case 8.75" limited slip POSI with 3:55 gear and replacement heavy duty axles, all new bearings and seals. This car is a factory A/C car, with separate rear air unit. The front a/c underhood equipment was removed in preparation for an aftermarket install that was never done but comes with the car and the rear a/c equipment is still all there. The AC compressor needs to be replaced and has been removed but will come with the car.

This car just as it is now starts right up and drives great! Everything seems to be working except for the AC. It has a deep rumble through the dual flowmaster exhaust and cruises easy, letting out a roar when you open the throttle. It will accelerate quickly considering its size. The engine is powerful but easily controllable and has a very smooth idle for just enjoying a country drive. The rebuilt 727 3spd transmission operates properly and I have driven this car at 70mph without any issues. Lots of nice options, leather bench seats, lap belts, cigar lighter. It has an AM/FM radio, bluetooth module and CD player, original working power antenna. It has power windows which were all rebuilt with Nurelic modern motors & mechanisms. They work fine but when going up and the rears can get a little out of alignment. We have found it best to roll up the fronts first to keep the rear in line better. The car even retains its working factory power vent windows! The car has factory power steering and factory power brakes as well. All engine accessories are new and the power brakes were rebuilt last year including a new master cylinder. The front brakes have been converted to disc, making driving more enjoyable. The state inspection and registration is current. A very great looking, great driving classic!

Tires are great with deep tread on aftermarket 20” American Racing wheels. Massive 305/50/20 tires in the rear and 275/45/20 in the front for a healthy contact patch. The trim is all in pretty good original condition with very few dings but the bumpers have some denting (see photos). This car has been stored indoors in a private collection but was driven regularly. All of the glass is good and works well. The body panels are showing some signs of age with very slight bubbling or blistering around the rear lower quarter and in a few places around the decklid (see photos) but still look better than most show cars you will see, many years of life left. We can negotiate to include touch-ups for you if you want it perfect. The steering wheel is an aftermarket woodgrain wheel in like new condition and the horn operates properly. The interior is in great shape, looks new. The seats appear near mint and very soft and comfortable for a long cruise. All of the lights all work, but the reverse lights are on a toggle switch next to the steering column, we were told this is because the original reverse switch for the transmission is no longer available. It also has a power trunk release button using the original power trunk release mechanism. The front turn signal lenses are missing in these photos but new ones have been made and installed. The car does not have its original wiring, it appears to be a painless wiring harness from what we could see. The rocker panel trim had been removed when we got it and is off in the photos, but we did acquire it with the car and have since reinstalled it and think the car looks better with it. The previous owner had it removed because he thought it looked better. If you buy it you’ll have to make up your own mind.

The door weather stripping is in OK condition with some cracking and weathering, the roofrails were replaced when rebuilt. The car runs and drives great. The entire front end was also rebuilt, center link, idler arm, control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends, radius rods,... everything in 2016. Also rebuilt/replaced was the center carrier bearing and they built a new driveshaft with new u-joints. It is a large car so has a little ‘float’ as you might expect from a 60’s land barge but is easily manageable. I have driven it for testing and pleasure and it is a lot of fun and gets plenty of attention. The car has no mechanical problems that we can find. We replaced the water pump, alternator and power steering pump as soon as we got the car as preemptive maintenance. We are confident that you could drive this car anywhere. We recently noticed the fuel gauge was not working so we sent the entire gauge cluster to a specialty shop and had the gauges rebuilt and re-calibrated so it is all new and in great working condition. We also had the dash clock rebuilt with quartz movement at the same time. All of the recent dash work cost around $1,000. This car also comes with a cool matching Black Beauty keychain so you dont forget which car the keys go to. The car comes equipped with an onboard battery tender to plug in during storage so you never have to worry about your battery in the event you cannot drive the car regularly.

If you are looking for 60’s luxury, you cant do better than the Imperial. More powerful and reliable than a Lincoln, and Americas last true hand built luxury car to rival Rolls Royce. Check out the aircraft-throttle interior door handles. The space-aged window controls, not the mention the forest of woodgrain and chrome surrounding you from the dash to the door panels. The bench seats have armrests for all passengers and pull handles for egress in the rear.

Cruise in style this summer with the top down, this one is available just in time!

These cars are staying in the $10,000 - $30,000 range for original examples, but none are really drivable and all sport original aged interior and need restoration. This is a car that has a few cosmetic dings from use but is mechanically rebuilt and sound and easily drivable, with new interior to boot. When was the last time you saw an Imperial that was not sporting its old, dry, cracked upholstery? I dare you to find a nicer example that you can drive home. You won’t find a nicer combination of performance and style and it makes for a great collectible or pleasure vehicle. Don't miss out on a chance to own one of the best 60’s luxury cars, ready to enjoy now.

Other than the above, the car looks amazing, drives well and gets alot of attention. Very fun car to take to the local meet or cruise around town. We have driven the car 150 mile round trips into Houston and never had any problems. Keep in mind it is 54 years old and not a new car, but it is in amazing condition considering its age. You can hop in right now, drive home and enjoy.
